The
function of fluxes is to facilitate the base metal wetting and the correct
bonding of the filler metal. They protect the heated area from oxidation and
destroy oxides which could impair the strength of the brazed joint. Selection
of the appropriate flux is essential for a successful brazing or bronze welding
work.
